Hi all, until very recently there has been a bit of a problem with this group, primarily being that there has been only a single member (me) in charge of hundreds of submissions to this group, and up till now I have had zero power in the backend to recruit any new help due to the fact the founder was so inactive. Due to this problem many submissions have fallen to the wayside timing-out, there has been little correspondence between me and the hundreds of submissions this group receives (sorry about that, it's just not possible.) and as a result a few members have become fed up with the perceived 'elitism' of the group due to this lack of interaction. Completely understandable.
Well now our founder has deactivated their account and I have been made the groups 'founder' I can now revitalise the group as the group it once was. A gallery of 'supreme scapes'. The best landscape photography DA has to offer.
Over the next few weeks I hope to be amongst a larger collective of moderators in this group with the same goal of curating the many many submissions to this group which should cut down the time needed for your piece to be accepted or declined, and hopefully should also give submitters a little bit of feedback as to why.
That said however this group was never about gaining criticism, nor was it supposed to be an image dump for happy snaps, the entire idea behind this group in the first place was to develop a place for the best landscape photographs in the DA sphere to be displayed in one place. To that end a majority of submissions tend to be rejected, when I started here we had around a dozen moderators doing this, and now it's up to my own biased opinion and I never felt I was qualified to do such a thing, so I need help with this. Just as a side note, when I started here the admission rate to the gallery was around 10% of images submitted, now it's closer to 30-40%.
I'm very sorry if you have been offended in the past due to not being included in the group's gallery, or the snub in communication, that hasn't been my personal goal as sole moderator in the group, but now I have been given the reigns of the group I hope to change some things. Starting with extra moderators.
A moderator of this group should have an understanding of photography beyond the layman, an education helps but is not a requirement, personal work in your gallery is a far better indicator of your eye in photography than a piece of paper. As a moderator you'd be needed to occasionally look through submissions to the group and judge them as if they were your own photographs. If they make your grade, accept them to the gallery, if not, deny it. If you'd like add a comment as to why you denied it. As there are hundreds of submissions a week, that isnt always possible.
The goal is to create a collection of 'supreme scapes', the best of DA. If you'd like to help out please let me know.
